USB Keyboard Support

Postby the_fbi » Mon Jan 15, 2007 3:21 pm

We got ourselves a nice new Dell 1430 dual, dual core xeon today for mailcleaner use.

Only problem is that it doesn't have any PS/2 ports. The BIOS also doesn't support mapping of USB keyboard to PS/2 (legacy emulation). So we're stuck!

About to see if MC gets an IP by default after install, then clearly we can ssh and configure it, but any other ideas? (failing installing on a different machine and ghosting to the new one).

Even tried console=ttyS0 etc at the Lilo prompt, but no luck as getty is #'d out in inittab :(

Mounted up the drive from a Slax bootable USB stick and just added a S30net in the end with ifconfig just so it gets on the network. Bit of a bodge but worked.

MailCleaner has 192.168.1.101 default IP address and is accessible through ssh.

I will look for usb keyboard support, but can't assure you it will be ok in the next release (I don't have enough hardware here to test that, sorry).
