Hi!
Just updated my servers with the latest patch. No problems experienced during the upgrade.

This week I decided to increase the maximum size of files scanned by the prefilters. No matter what I do, I still get the "is too big for ClamSpam checks (NNNNNN > 500000)" error or something like that. Searched here and found nothing. :?

I decided to search for the config affecting it. Turned out that it's hardcoded in /usr/mailcleaner/etc/mailscanner/prefilters/ClamSpam.cf_template as maxSize=500000 unlike the other CFs there with maxSize=__MAXSIZE__.

Edited the above file and got it working. I'm not sure though if it's patch related or not since I only decided to change the maxSize after the patch.

FYI.

Thanks. :)

rpocamilo, can you tell me exactly how you changed the order of mail processing so that whitelists are processed first? I'm on the latest patch, and am experiencing the same issue where whitelisted addresses are still being quarantined.

Also, I inherited this box, so I'm a bit new to MailCleaner, although it looks like a great product. :)

Thank you.

Ok this is the file you have to modify (make a backup first, just in case)

/usr/MailScanner/lib/MailScanner/Message.pm

You have to swap the code between lines 429 and 487 with the code between lines 490 and 553.

I also changed original line 520:

return 0 unless $includesaheader || $usegsscanner;

To this:

return 0

That's what i did. If it doesn´t work for you, please email me at gmail.com and i will send you the modified file.

Regards,

Juan Camilo

Thank you for the quick reply!

I've implemented the changes as you described and rebooted the server. All seems OK for now, and it even allowed a whitelisted GTUBE e-mail trough. :) So now, it's just a matter of time to see how it performs under real-world load and messages.

I'll set a reminder in my calendar to post my results in a few weeks.

Thank you again!

Hi Dave,

I work on an ISP in Colombia, we have 4 Mailcleaner servers in cluster configuration on a production environment. Since i applied the changes several months ago, whitelist problems were solved and no more client complains were received about whitelist issues. I also reviewed the logs when did a couple of tests sending spam from whitelisted addresses, so i'm certain this procedure makes whitelist work again...

Greetings from Colombia

Juan Camilo Rpo.

Hi Juan.

Sadly, I have users who are still reporting that addresses they have whitelisted are getting quarantined. :(

Is there anything else I can try?

Also, I was thinking about looking into MailCleaner 2010 Beta 2 - have you played with that version at all yet?

Thank you again for all of your help.

I suggest you give a try to the beta. It is at least as stable as the latest patch which will soon be deprecated.

Hi Dave

I haven´t tried Mailcleaner 2010 Beta. I just uploaded the file Message.pm with this post. Rename yours and replace it with this and i think it should work.

Bye

look here: http://forum.mailcleaner.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1002
Although it is still named as beta, it is quite stable and even more stable that the 2009 version. You should definitively upgrade.
