Disabled NiceBayes - Score -1.9 added to every mail?

Postby Martijn » Tue May 26, 2015 4:34 pm

Hi,

I was playing around with NiceBayes but decided not to use it (module is NOT active).
Now I see a score of -1.9 added to every mail!?!?
Is there anything that relies on Bayes so that this score is relevant or something?

Please advise!

In the config file use bayes is always on, doesnt matter if I uncheck it on GUI, so here is the solution:

Edit /usr/mailcleaner/etc/mailscanner/spam.assassin.prefs.conf_template

Original:

Code: Select all

use_bayes __USE_BAYES__

Modified:

Code: Select all

#use_bayes __USE_BAYES__
use_bayes 0

And restart mailcleaner

Code: Select all

service mailcleaner restart

If you are using a cluster, you need to do on both node.

So after restart the /usr/mailcleaner/etc/mailscanner/spam.assassin.prefs.conf is generated from the _template file and bayes are disabled.

Hello guys,
Care, you re talking of Nicebayes and Spamc bayesian at same time.

You can enable or disable Module Nicebayes (bogofilter under the hood), it will not change SpamC score.
Not exactly true: To be honest, if you place the module Nicebayes in not decisive mode, Spamc has some rules to give score by reading nicebayes headers (only for > 80, if i remember well initial values).

You can disable bayesian of SpamC module by clicking on "Use statistical filter" checkbox.
You shouldn't do this but maybe simply search what rules is giving the -1.9.

I suppose this is linked to DNSWL. This RBL was normally created to whitelists companies with four level of confidence.
In our last adjustment of rules i disabled 3 first level of scoring.... and the fourth sometimes give some false positive...
All Spammers or near are in this RBL so i can't recommend it anymore.

I'll see too if we can publish some more up-to-date databases for bayesians for the community to use.
