Outgoing MTA and smart host set-up

Hello everyone,

for somewhile now i use MC2010, and i'm very pleased with it. But now i have an question.

Is it possible to use the MC2010 as an fully outgoing MTA? If yes is it also possible to set an outgoing smart host?

The reason i want this, is that i need to block port 25 in my firewall except 1 IP adress (the MC2010). I do not want to setup my exchange 2007 as outgoing SMTP server for external users/clients, because he is not able to filter any mail. So i want to setup the exchange to use as smart host the MC2010, and provide all external users/clients the SMTP adress of the MC2010, and from here i want to set the MC2010 to use as smart host my ISP SMTP server.

Does anyone has an solution for this?

I do have the same setup, where my Exhange 2010 Server uses Mailcleaner as Smart Host for outgoing and incoming mails. You have to add the IP-Address of the Exchange Server to the trusted Networks for SMTP /32. Bye

I understand that part, thanks. But where can i fill in the smart host to route the email through? In exchange is setup the sen connector "to route through the following smart hosts", but where can i set it in mailcleaner?

The problem is i don't want to route the emails by myself, but throug the server of my ISP. This is because the danger of being blacklisted is much lower throw this way.

Anyone?

Hi Olivier and Every one else,

For clarification could you please answer the following:

1. In Master/Slave configuration any of the nodes can be used for outbound?

2. If so do we place the IP address of the mail server in the trusted IPs to allow relaying?

3. Are the outbound emails examined for spam and virus?

Hi,
Looking on the forum I check there is an open discussion about using MC as outgoing scanner for mails before sending to the final destination.

Is there a way to configure MC to be the relay for outgoing mails checking the source domain of the message and is accepted send it to the final destination (ofcourse scanning spam and viruses).
