Postby rajbps » Mon Oct 02, 2017 10:38 pm

Hi Team,

Can anyone advise on how to install the new version of mailcleaner on proxmox. I have done a few install of mailcleaner 2014 from the iso cd but unsure on how to proceed with the new mailcleaner. I read the document with the zip file but still cant make head nor tail. Any help will be greately appreciated.

Hi KMV,

Thanks for that. This is how I installed it on proxmox. Created a new kvm in proxmox with 60GB disk and 4GB ram with 2 cpu sockets 1 core. Now this works well boots etc. My issue is after i updated the name, ran the installation wizard bit and changed the Base URL part to the new server name under services.
The admin login interface name stays https://mailcleaner/admin/index Can`t seems to change it. I have updated /ettc/hosts and /etc/hostname to reflect the new name have rebooted, cleared dns cache on client machine etc but still that will not change. Can you advise where else I need to update please.

Hi Rajbps.

By any chance, can you post your /etc/network/interfaces file please ?
I'm struggling with my MC version I installed in Proxmox 5.1: my MC can ping the net, but nothing can connect from the outside (ssh, 443, 4242).

Thanks.

I should add that you should install the Proxmox Agent in your VM. This agent allow communication between the VM and the HOST.

To do so, on the VM run:

Code: Select all

apt-get install qemu-guest-agent

You can confirm it's installed:

Code: Select all

root@mailcleaner:~# service qemu-guest-agent status
● qemu-guest-agent.service - LSB: QEMU Guest Agent startup script
   Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/qemu-guest-agent)
Active: active (running) since Sun 2018-03-04 18:58:24 EST; 7min ago
   CGroup: /system.slice/qemu-guest-agent.service
           └─4184 /usr/sbin/qemu-ga --daemonize -m virtio-serial -p /dev/virtio-ports/org.qemu.guest_agent.0

Mar 04 18:58:23 mailcleaner systemd[1]: Starting LSB: QEMU Guest Agent startup script...
Mar 04 18:58:24 mailcleaner systemd[1]: Started LSB: QEMU Guest Agent startup script.
Mar 04 19:00:13 mailcleaner qemu-ga[4184]: info: guest-ping called

After this, SHUTDOWN your VM, go in your PROMOX > YOUR_VM > OPTIONS > QEMU AGENT you need to set to YES, and start your VM. On PROXMOX website, the don't mention to shutdown the VM before enabling this option, and it was always written "NO in black and YES in red", and it was not communicating when doing the test of the next step, so I've decided to post in this thread.

When it's back online, and to test that it's installed, open your PROMOX shell access (not your VM console) and type:

Code: Select all

qm agent <vmid> ping

and if you see NO QEMU GUEST AGENT, then it didn't work.
