Unable to log in after install

Postby ChrisS72 » Thu Mar 14, 2013 3:38 pm

Hi!

So I just finished the install of mailcleaner and successfully installed my VMTools. I can log into the console with root but when I browse to the web page I am unable to log in with anything. I've read about a https://mailcleaner/admin page but when I try to go there, I receive the default cannot display the webpage.

Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance!

Ok so I figured that part out. need to have the trailing \ on the \admin\ page. But is there a different user account for logging into the admin page?

When you install mailcleaner you setup a root password, which you use to login to the system via shell. and during the installation you specify a password for the web panel

the user name for the web panel is admin

you will probably find that you used the same password with out realising

You're right I don't remember ever specifying the password for a web account. I have tried admin/admin but I receive "Incorrect user name or password".

Is this a normal user account that I can modify in the shell?

I 99% sure its not a normal unix user for the web panel, im sure its held in the SQL database,

just try using the your root password with the username of admin, first time i set it up i didn't realise i had done the same.

the bit where you specify the web panel password is when you are installing the system you give it a unique host ID then it asks for a password.

If you have root access you could try this:

Code: Select all

/usr/mailcleaner/bin/mc_mysql -m
use mc_config;
update administrator set password=ENCRYPT('YOURPASSWORD') where username='admin';

Don't forget the last slash! If you do it will redirect you to what is probably a site that does not exist.
http://123.45.67.89/admin/
or http://mailcleaner.mydomain.com/admin/
