Re: How to activate exim stage 1 debug mode ?

Are you using Address Verification in your domain settings? It sounds like that is timing out. If it does all mail will be rejected.

Update error

I updated mailcleaner this week and now I am getting the following error on startup: Starting MailScanner: Could not use Custom Function code MailScanner::CustomConfig::InitMailWatchLogging, it could not be "eval"ed. Make sure the module is correct with perl -wc (Error: install_driver(mysq...

Re: RBL updates

Those of you with database experience should know the limit is not how many but the number of characters in the total string. If you want more than 16 or 20 then edit your files and give the rbls shorter names. I am not sure why the system is setup this way but that's how it works. :?

Re: SPF bypass for authenticated sender

I'm not sure this is the same but we had an spf problem ourselves. We wound up adding the server forwarding to mailcleaner and mailcleaner itself as spf ip4 servers and this resolved a similar issue. Hope it helps.

Proper format of .cf file

I am looking at adding mailspike as a white list but I want to limit which codes are accepted. I copied this format from URIBL.cf but I want to make sure I am not doing something crazy. name=MSWL type=IPRWL dnsname=wl.mailspike.net sublist=127.0.0.18,MSWL_H3,MailSpike white list H3 sublist=127.0.0.1...

Re: spf include problem

I have seen similar issues with Microsoft domains. In the SPF standard there is a limit of 10 includes in an SPF record. This is not something that Microsoft seems to be following. We have the same problem with a local university that is using Microsoft hosting. The greylisting can be a real issue b...

Re: is_spamsh correctly ID's email as spam but spamD doesn't

To add more info to this issue, I'm running mailcleaner in a cluster. The slave server seems to be the only one that's letting the spam through. I looked at the warning.logs and found that arbitrarily I'll get a sudden list of RBLs that are timing out. This lasts for about 4 hours and then goes awa...

Re: Question ACE archive

See http://forum.mailcleaner.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2015&hilit=bitdefender for how to add Bit Defender to your mailcleaner package.

You may have to add an ACE file decompressor to scan the ACE file. Mailcleaner already has support for zip and rar.

Re: Mailcleaner community beta on Amazon's EC2?

I posted a HVM AMI for mailcleaner so you can skip all of this.
See http://forum.mailcleaner.org/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2178

It appears that this post was pre HVM which made the machine costs a lot higher.

Re: Install MailCleaner on Amazon EC2 cloud

The system statistics issue was caused by the lack of the separate partion /var Change /usr/mailcleaner/lib/RRD/Disk.pm from: my %things = ( rootused => '1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.9.1.9.1', varused => '1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.9.1.9.2', ); To: my %things = ( rootused => '1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.9.1.9.1', varused => '1.3.6....

Install MailCleaner on Amazon EC2 cloud

I recently converted my mailcleaner to the Amazon cloud. For AMI image search EC2 for public AMI ami-ed5309dd on available in US-WEST-2 This will require a T2Medium instance (I did not try and reduce the mailcleaner memory usage under 1 GB) You will also need an Elastic IP address and now is a good ...

To use SMTP callout You have to set exchange to reject emails to unknown recipients. See http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123891(v=exchg.150).aspx

Re: Serve two remote domains in one MailCleaner installation

You can add as many domains as you like and have separate active directories for each. There really isn't any need to do a cluster just for this.

Re: Accepting mail to any address or domain?

I think what you're looking for is a honeypot setup. I can't actually find anything but project honeypot which you can join. Mailcleaner is not really built this way and it would be a major hack to accomplish this. The incoming stage would have to be changed to accept all messages. The outgoing stag...
